I will remember how they captured you, and threw you on the bottom of slave ships. I will remember how you were chained, naked and sold on the market place. I will remember that you were beaten; burned, hung, raped and killed.
I will remember that you worked day and night in the fields, your children was taken from you and sold for 300 years. I will remember how you were not free, but you prayed that one day we will see.
I will remember how they turned the water holes and dogs on you. I will remember that they set on fire, your homes and churches. How we faught in there wars, but couldn’t eat in the same restaurant or stores. I will remember how they murdered our leaders; all of the injustice, and everything you went through so that we could just vote.
I will remember that I come from African Kings and Queens, my beauty is deep within and not on the outward skin. I will remember to say it loud: “I’m black and I’m proud”
