I walk on to the balcony to smoke a cigarette
Its two past midnight; I’m tired of holding in all my regrets
I watch the flicker as I inhale the smoke in my chest
Then I stare at the stars and let go of all the stress
For a moment there’s silence beyond the madness
I follow the smoke up to the moon and stars
It seems my soul is saturated with sadness
Outside I’m fine; inside I’m consumed with scars
I’m such a reject; most of the time I hate myself
So I drink to forget; I drink just a little too much
This self loathing is never good for my health
But fuck it; I just feel my life is already used up
Another cigarette lit; another glass left empty
Another hour lost; sometimes I can’t face it
I’d end it all, but honestly that’s not in me
Another opportunity wasted being wasted
Damn, I look at the time; where did it all go
The longer I’m out here, the sicker I get
I pour myself another drink as the wind blows
I’m just a loser on the balcony of life flicking cigarettes
You already know Poetess Elle McLin, I’m just humbled to be apart of such a vast amount of talent & a tremendous amount of brilliant literary artists. This site has definitely evolved & grown while I’ve been M.I.A & I’m glad to see the forum you provided for many writers is doing so well. Your doing a fabulous job as well as given many of us a place for our voices to be heard. Keep up the great work and thanks again for just letting me have an opportunity to share my craft wit others.
